Get out of self-checkout free

Rewe

Use this barcode at the exit of your Rewe self-checkout area to open the exit gates.

For the nerds: it is a Code 128 barcode.

  • The first 4 numbers are a fixed prefix (2300),
  • the next 2 numbers identify the terminal, and
  • the last 10 numbers are a Unix timestamp in seconds.
The exit gate scanner supposedly only checks if the timestamp is not too old, so you can use this barcode until 2038-01-19.

Edeka

The barcodes used to open the exit gates of your EDEKA self-checkout area require a terminal ID.
For the nerds: it is an Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) barcode.
  • Parts of the first 7 numbers may identify the store,
  • the next 6 numbers are the date in format DDMMYY,
  • the next 3 numbers identify the terminal, and
  • the last 6 numbers are the receipt sequence number.
It is currently unknown how the exit gate scanner works.

Lidl

The barcodes used to open the exit gates of your Lidl self-checkout area require the store ID and a terminal ID.
For the nerds: it is an Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) barcode.
  • The first 4 numbers are possibly a fixed prefix (0888),
  • the next 4 numbers identify the store,
  • the next 6 numbers are the receipt sequence number,
